It was their final tour, ending abruptly due to the death of Jerry Garcia in August. The tour featured performances across multiple cities, culminating in a series of shows at Chicago’s Soldier Field. The tour highlighted the band’s enduring legacy and connection with fans but also marked the end of an era for the iconic group. Afterward, the band officially disbanded. The surviving members pursued new musical projects to maintain the Grateful Dead’s spirit and usher in a new era for Deadheads. This period is known as the post-Jerry Garcia era of the Grateful Dead.
