Grateful Dead Pharaoh 1984 Rick Griffin Shirt

This Grateful Dead Pharaoh 1984 Rick Griffin shirt features graphic artwork designed by the psychedelic artist Rick Griffin. It is one of two products created in collaboration between Grateful Dead and Rick Griffin to promote a series of Grateful Dead concerts at the Berkeley Community Theater from October 27 to November 3, 1984. The second product features the same graphic design but was released as a poster.

The “Pharaoh” graphic design depicts a grinning pharaoh wearing sunglasses and Steal Your Face headphones, a characteristic design by Griffin.

Notably, there was an issue with the poster: due to a mistake where Griffin listed the venue as the “Berkeley Community Center” instead of “Theatre,” the poster was not approved by the concert promoter. Many of these posters were confiscated, making surviving copies quite rare and collectible​. This issue did not affect the Grateful Dead Pharaoh 1984 shirt.
